                                                        RORO & ROLO TRANSPORTATIONS

                                                        Ro/Ro ships are designed to load and carry self-propelled or wheeled cargoes such as automobiles, trucks, trailers, tracked vehicles and special units. These vessels have one or more ramps (bow, stern, quarter, side) that are lowered on the quay to accept cargo that can be driven on and off the ship. Using such type of ships, we avoid the lifting of heavy units which could safely be driven to the cargo compartments. Access between the decks can be enhanced by a combination of hoistable/liftable decks, internal ramps and elevators.

                                                        If you have a cargo combination of self-driven vehicles and general cargoes or heavy pieces which may exceed the payload of the vessel's ramp, Ro/Lo ships can be used where a part of the cargo can be lifted on/off by shipside or shoreside cranes into the holds.

                                                        Ro-Ro capacity is often expressed in lane metres (lm), for which however there is no standard (width) formula. The actual lane metres used depend, voyage-by-voyage, on space taken by other than Ro-Ro cargo. PCC (Pure Car Carrier), PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carries) are also the members of the Ro/Ro family.
